Sad for at one point they were easily the best out there but it didnt last. And as I have said the support was going down. It has been a year since I have deployed any ESET business products, the continuing licensing and support is expensive compared to the others. Compared to symantecs management console I like SEPM much better! And comparing it to ESET.I will take Kaspersky all day! I also tested kaspersky myself on a test network and it wasnt bad but as other have said the management console is a little goofy and not straight forward. Too confusing and disorganized.their words not mine. We did a brief test with a customer and they did not like it. But there scan speeds are slow and their stuff is a little more resource intensive. I have also heard great things about kasperskys for they actually do great malware and virus protection. Sunbelt (which is now GFI) was big on spyware and should be better. Which has lead me to Vipre it is untested for me but on my radar. And the licensing is expensive when you look at ROI/TCO. The architecture is very old! Support has fallen off. But more so about SEP, the support is based out of india and isnt too bad but it depends who you draw from the call queue.Īs for ESET I was once a fan and now I will look for other solutions. I am not certain but SEP doesnt have great malware detection where as NAV did.not great but better.
However NAV is not an enterprise product nor can it be centrally managed.
If symantec based endpoint closely off of Norton Antivirus it would be better. I was actually quite shocked for NAV was extremely lightweight which is contrary to symantec Endpoint (SEP) as well as 360 (Crap slow suite) and internet security (Even slower and more blaoted then 360) which are not enterprise products. Something later he did and went with just plain jane Norton Antivirus (10-user pack was 125 bucks! but it is not a business nor managed solutions in anyway, but ok for them.no servers).
It is slow scanning slow to download updates but the customer didnt want to spend the money on a 10 user license of something else. We deployed a small network with MS Security essentials (they were 10 users) and it didnt fend as well as I had hoped. All of these suite do virus detection well but most struggle with everything outside of virus protection such as malware, trojans, rootkits, and so on. It is lightweight but also light on malware detection as well. Long waits since they became popular and the management console is a cluster. I have used ESET and Symantec Endpoint 11 and 12.

My question is why are the "big guys" like Symantec and McAfee rated so low? My office is using McAfee Enterprise VirusScan 8.8 and I'm looking for a replacement due to lots of malware getting through. I've seen the antivirus solution page that lists the different "enterprise" antivirus solutions and their ratings.
